Delta Tau Delta teamed up with Sigma Kappa for Rock Chalk Revue.
Before their oral interviews, they did a dress rehearsal.
I got the opportunity to snap off some photos.

New Watermark

I was extraordinarily bored and wanted to play around in photoshop.
Ended up creating a basic mock up of my Nikon D300.
Put the aperture blade tattoo I have on my arm in the lens and through my name on it.
Who knows if I'm going to keep this or not.

Product Shoot

I don't ever play around with product shoots at all.
Decided it was time to experiment.
Setup up was simple, I wasn't actually in a studio, I just put foamcore on the ground and shot.

BDS 101: Things & Ideas III

Last batch of drawings.
My stack is starting to get really big.
Approx. 360 drawings/paintings/images.
I'm getting burned out big time. I've drawn so many "throw away" sketches and starting to get less picky about my work.
Favorite out of this last bunch is probably the Typographical group.

BDS 101: Things & Ideas II

Third wave of drawings are being completed.
I didn't realize that I'd build such a large pile worth of drawings in such a short period.
A stack of 180 drawings and things are gettin' a little hard to keep track of.
Alot of these different types of drawings are really starting to bleed together and there's a ton of confusion on the descriptions on what exactly what we're supposed to do.
Hopefully things will clear up.
Favorite bunch of this third group is probably the index drawings.

BDS 101: Things/Ideas

So far, this project is a little overwhelming.
I get through about 10 drawings and then I hit a wall and struggle to come up with anything different for the next 10 sketches.
So far my favorite group are the gesture drawings.

BDS 101: Comic Reflections

The comic strip was definitely a new approach to learning. It was actually the first time that I’ve ever really been presented with a comic as a medium of education if you will. I couldn’t help the whole time but think of the strange resemblance of the main character in the comic to one of the instructors in BDS 101, the gentleman with the glasses. But I stray from the point. It did an awesome job starting my brain up talking about and illustrating how the pictures are really not what they seem. I like that it brought up the idea of “what are you actually seeing?” ”This is not a pipe, these are not ideas” so on and so forth. It also reminded me of a lot of the points made during lecture on how we tend to see faces in everything. Overall, I feel this gave me a nice background to figuring out how to simplify my drawings and break things down into its icons. Not just icons, but to break something down to its ideas and meanings behind it.

Jacob Gill

It rained today and me and my fellow photographer friend, Jacob Gill, wanted to shoot that night. Thankfully, I knew of a spot where we could enjoy the nice cool outdoor rainy air and a nice dry spot.

BDS 101: IDEO

The IDEO videos were really interesting. I really never thought of how the process of designing something would be like. I always thought it’d be a person or a small team just stuck inside of a quite room or a cubicle writing out ideas and then presenting them to each other. What I saw in the video was very different than that. There were people from many different fields, in an open, comfortable, and lively environment. There are crazy ideas left and right, and the thought process has a very informal sort of feel to it. It’s interesting that they literally write or make a quick drawing of every single idea they have no matter how ridiculous it might be.

BDS 101: Good Design Object

Our first project is to come up with a list of items that follow a certain criteria for a "good design." We had to come up with a list of 5 objects and then narrow it down to one.
This is the object I chose.A Husky Folding Utility Knife.
I've had this for about a year now and love it.
